Big Bend is 3 miles away. Plan for at least 3 days to see each of the main sections, more if you are a hiker. Go EARLY to hike; like in the dark so you can start hike at first light or before and be done before the heat gets you. We heard people leaving the campground as early as 5 am. Big Bend National and State Parks are minutes away. The old Terlingua ghost town is interesting. Had a great dinner at the old Starlight Theater.

Stock up with provisions for your stay before leaving I-10. The drive through the state park to the west is scenic and hugs the Rio Grande.

Big Bend NP is amazing. We hiked grapevine hills to balanced rock. Amazing view after scrambling around boulders. Fossil discovery exhibit was interesting. Hiked Chisos Basin Loopsteep in places.
